Natural Sports Drink Recipe
Our culture is all about hydration, hydration, hydration, but sometimes I feel like I'm just diluting myself with water and need more minerals to actually help it all absorb. Popular water filters like Brita actually filter out much of the good stuff as well. Trace Mineral Drops are one option that can be added tastelessly to filtered water to bring back the important minerals necessary for life.
If you find yourself craving salt often, it could be a sign of adrenal fatigue. Drinking too much purified water can flush out much-needed electrolytes and minerals, worsening the condition.
Coconut water naturally contains electrolyte salts like potassium and magnesium, but it can get expensive. And please don't buy Gatorade or other additive-laden sports drinks!
Here's a recipe I love for making your very own "naturally isotonic sports drink."
Ingredients:
4 cups of your favorite herbal tea, brewed
1/4 tsp. Himalayan or sea salt (don't use regular table salt because it is stripped of its minerals)
1/4 cup (or more!) of pure juice (I use lemon and lime shown above)
1 tbsp. raw honey
1 crushed calcium magnesium tablet or 1/2 tsp. powdered (optional)
Warm together until all dissolved and then refrigerate.
